Recommendation on best thermostat without internet access needed

Hi all,

I am asking for some input from the many useful users on this forum to point out or suggest some zwave thermostats that great for the VeraEdge that do not require internet access (like the Nest) to function with added features? A follow-up question to this if there are any, are there any that look visual nice (maybe a touch interface or a nice visual)?

When you use a z-wave thermostats for home “AUTOMATION” you shouldn’t have to touch it very much or at all. So you’ll find most z-wave thermostats are not touch screen or very decorative.

I use a bunch of Tranes for my zoned system. For one going to each room to change settings for each room one at a time is not ideal. I never physically use my thermostats.

Is it better to get battery powered ones or wired?

If you have power available, it is the way to go. Many allow for batteries or 24v

I got Lowe’s iris ones. They have battery and can use 24vac as well. Online coupons available for Lowe’s as well.

Wired would be better as no maintenance. Also if it’s z-wave battery devices don’t repeat in the mesh network to conserve battery. They also check in less also to conserve battery. So I would say all wired devices are better, but for some they may have to difficult of a time getting ti wired up as an original thermostat probley won’t have a “C” wire. This could be an easy or difficult fix depending on your skill and what your house and system is like.
