Recommendation of Alarm Platform, NX-8E, Vista, etc..

Hi all. I am new to vera and new to these forums but I’m excited about getting started.

I’ve been reading through the forum here trying to get more information about vera plugins for the various alarm platforms. I was actually about to write an alerting client & server from scratch (non-vera) until I came across the Vera forum.

Basically my situation is this. I have decided to use vera as my automation hardware. I have not yet decided on an alarm platform. This decision will be made almost entirely on the quality of its vera plugin. Can you comment on any of the plugins out there in terms of completeness, stability, and maintainability (I would like the option to modify the code in the future if necessary). By maintainability I dont so much mean the quality of the code (I’m sure its all excellent :slight_smile: as much as any quirks with making a certain platform work.

The main ones I’m looking at now are the Caddx NX-8E plugin or the Ademco Vista plugin via AD2USB. I would also consider DSC or Concord but I know less about them. What do you recommend?

Not sure of the most complete plugin, but the DSC is likely the most popular here in the for US for us Vera users. Its also quite flexible for the interface type with it being able to use the DSC IT100 module and the Envisalink 2DS/EVL3 module.

Alone due to the feature set of the EVL3 interface, I would either go with a DSC or Honeywell system… although I’m not sure if the Honeywell plugin supports it yet.
