Real-time clock (RTC) in Vera Edge?

I had a power outage yesterday AND my DSL line is broken. :frowning:
Today I noticed that the time and date had been reset in my Edge, jumping 15 years back in time. I had assumed that Vera Edge has a backed-up real time clock but it does not seem that way. Having a look through SSH access seemed to verify this.

Does anyone know if this is true? Maybe there is an RTC which is not yet activated in software?

AFAIK Edge does not have a battery in it so no native RTC. I’m looking into using an usb RTC or building an arduino RTC with a module from ebay. I got around this problem partially by using a router with wrt/pfsense and making that a NTP time server. Another option would be to set your desktop / laptop to be a time server.

Turning NTP on on a Vera uses memory resources on Vera.
Lack of memory is the primary cause of instability already on Vera.
Make sure you have enough memory overhead to handle the additional load as you turn on additional services on Vera.
