I don’t know if others have this problem, but sometimes my vera will lose connection for no obvious reason. Luup restarts as well for unclear reasons. Most often things will come back to working. However, twice when I was traveling, the system would not come up and my house was not controlled nor could I access it remotely.
So a simple solution:
I bought a cheap battery back up timer from Amazon

and restart the Vera at 4 AM every day. This has improved reliability greatly, and if I am away, I can still get to the system.
In order to debug further, I’ve set up notification from System Monitor app to notify when LUUP has restarted or the system reboots.
Lastly, since it came with two timers, I use one to reboot my cable modem every day, which has had a significant effect on keeping my download speed at maximum (Comcast advised me to manually reboot my modem every week…this is easier)

So simple solutions to my problems…sharing in case you have a similar problem.

Thanks…support has been helpful, but I think random power surges and brownouts seem to be the culprit. I also suspect that I have a lot of devices and apps loaded, and I may be pushing the envelope in memory. and it drops below 150K sometimes. Haven’t fully debugged yet, but I am certain that some apps were not as well behaved as others, causing restarts.
The real problem for me is that if the system doesn’t fully “come back” from an error, there is no way I know of to access it remotely. And sometimes the system isn’t functioning with lighting, temps etc not running.
This “clean up” is just an easy way to be sure each day starts with a clean memory slate.

I could be the only person with this problem/solution, so please don’t be concerned about it.
