Help! I had a member of the support team help me yesterday with my Vera, which I’m assuming he reinstalled the firmware. Upon completion (hooked up to my computer through ethernet) I connected up to my router and all worked well. Before I went to bed, I used my phone to turn off lights, set temp and lock front door and everything was good. I awoke this morning and my Vera mobiles said connection failed. I went to the IP address of the Vera and again connection failed. I am assuming this is some sort of IP address issue if it worked for a while and magically stopped. My router has it setup as a dynamic address, so I’m not sure where my problem is coming in. HELP! Using a Vera lite connected to a Buffalo WZR-D1800H router.
Likely, this is a local IP address change combined with a FWDx.mios.com server change.
To locate the Vera on the local network, start at http://micasaverde.com/setup and choose the Go To Vera Button. Note the local IP address.
Once in the Vera click: Setup → Net & WiFi → Troubleshoot Network
You will receive a report with the network details. Look for the fwdx.mios.com: OK line. That fwdx url is the one you need to use for your phone apps, provided that they can’t figure it out for themselves by using cp.mios.com as they are supposed to.
The control panel ends up not working from the local network, not just the app.
I followed your instructions above and it worked for a day and yet again quit this morning. When I was able to get into the MIOS yesterday, I changed to a static IP address (in MIOS) and also set it up through the wireless router as static with the same IP addresses. I am away from home right now, so I can’t test within the local network, but is this something that should be updated automatically?
Perhaps I’m misunderstanding you but, if you setup a static IP address, nothing should be being updated. It should remain the same all the time. Micasaverde may move you to a different fwdx.mios.com server, but any decent app should be able to figure that out.
Try this:
Set up static IP on you router
Vera connection to router using wan port
Vera network set to automatic
Do not set static IP address the same in both.
