Questions about Vera2 and DSC PC1832 integration

I purchased a Vera2 specifically to allow remote administration of my DSC PC1832 alarm system through the IT-100 serial interface. So far, the only information available for configuring Vera2 to work with the 1832 has been in the forums, which I have found to be extremely confusing. The attempts that I have made so far have resulted in nothing that works. I tried calling MiCasa Verde a couple of times for technical support and was sent to voice mail.

If anyone has had success in a similar integration, I have a couple of questions to which I have not been able to find answers:

  1. A Wiki hosted at DSC Alarm Panel makes an attempt at walking through configuration but it is preceded by a comment that “This plug-in will probably not work with the “UI3” (versions 1.1.x) of Vera’s firmware”. When I check the firmware level of my user interface, it says that I am running the latest version: 1.1.1245. Does this mean that I can disregard any further configuration advice because it probably wont work?

  2. If I actually can configure the Vera2 to interface with my 1832, is there a definitive configuration guide or HOWTO available? All that I have seen so far are bits and pieces of discussions that discuss firmware quirks, patches, and work-arounds.

I would greatly appreciate any help that those of you in similar situations can provide.

You’re on UI4, which is where the plugin was built, so it’ll work just fine. You’ll want to ask your questions on the DSC thread itself, but you can follow the UI4 Install instructions outlined from the Wiki page you cited.

When you come across something specific that you don’t understand from those install instructions, please post that to the main thread and that’ll give folks the opportunity to augment the instructions as needed.

NOTE: The install instructions assume you have a level of familiarity with the Hardware setup of the 1832 itself, since the Plugin largely covers just the interface to an existing, running, 1832.
