Was wondering if you’re happy with the move? Is there any improvement in speed and compatibility?
I went from a Vera Lite UI7 to Vera 3 Ui5 and most things has been working flawlessly. However, I do prefer UI7 GUI as it’s easier to navigate.

I went from VeraLite to VeraPlus and in my opinion, it’s been a massive downgrade. ZWave communication seems much slower than VeraLite, the network is VERY VERY unstable, and the thing doesn’t even have batteries, so if you have devices that don’t support NWI (many devices don’t), you either have to unplug/replug Vera near your devices where unfortunately the bootup time is significantly longer than VeraLite (takes more than 10 minutes) or drag a long cable around the house, which is what I did. Overall, I don’t recommend VeraPlus at all.
I am very pleased but after much pain going from Vera 3 to a Vera Plus. Response times are much faster and the system handles heavy loads without any issues. The secret is starting from scratch. I had to exclude all my devices from Vera and rebuild everything ground up.
I have been struggling for days now to go from Vera 3 UI5 to Vera Plus. Still no joy. None of my sensors will trigger my scenes at all. I thought it was because I didn’t choose any House Mode but that didn’t do anything. I’ve had numerous Can’t Detect Devices errors that come and go as they please. I believe my Z Wave network was copied successfully because I can access each of my devices. I refuse to go the exclude/include route because that isn’t how this is supposed to work. We bought Vera Plus understanding that we would be able to simply upgrade our existing installations to Vera Plus in a few minutes. I don’t want to call this a disaster because other people are reporting success, but certainly this is disappointing.
Let me save you guys some time. VeraPlus was horrible after I upgraded from VeraLite (the upgrade process itself was smooth), so I decided to start from scratch. I excluded every single one of my approximately 70 devices one by one, dragging two 100ft cables all over the house. Then I factory reset VeraPlus, losing almost 4 years of customization. Then, I included every single device one by one. The whole process took about 12 hours… My system was stable for a good 2 hours. Then one by one devices started saying, “Can’t Detect Device”. During the next few days, up to 20 devices a day would fall on and off the network. Vera support has been useless. So, last week, I finally gave up, threw aside my Veras, bought myself an Aeon Labs ZWave Stick (it’s only $45), and began evaluating HomeSeer. So far, it’s solid. Once you add your devices, everything seems very reliable and just seems to work. It’s too early for me to give a definitive answer, but so far it’s enormously better than VeraPlus.
jumper, that’s very interesting that you brought up homeseer. I’ve been reviewing it on and off for months. I’m not quite sure I get it yet…
So you buy a USB Zwave stick (hub) or whatever that runs off your PC and use Homeseer software as the interface? This sounds right up my alley. Most people would shy away from this but I have my Blue Iris server running 24/7 and can easily throw homeseer on it.
Did you do the trial prior to diving in?

You might not want to talk to much about it on this forum. PM or do a bit of searching.

I totally get it.

Yup, that’s it. You just buy the stick and download the HomeSeer trial. I’m doing the trial right now, but have already moved all of my approximately 70 devices to it. So far, I’ve only bought the zwave stick, which was $45. I just plugged it into the existing computer I have at home. Once I’m ready, it looks like I can VERY easily move it to a dedicated computer and backup/restore my configuration to it. If you already have a server running, I’d say go for it. Just order the stick from Amazon (you can always return it) and add a few devices to it. Each device takes a couple seconds (you don’t have to go through a Wizard like Vera). You’ll be surprised at how well it works. With Vera (even UI5), I’d hit a button and then I’d have to pray for the device to do what I told it to, but with HomeSeer, I haven’t seen it fail yet, and it’s always instant no matter how far the device is (obviously you need a good mesh). Give it a try. Other than the price, everything else seems great
