Q-See / Night Owl DVR setup working

I’ve got a cheapo chinese DVR by Q-See. It is the same as many other brands, such as Night Owl which is sold at Harbor Freight.

Using the generic camera plugin, the following works on my Q-See 414 4-channel DVR.

Grab jpg URL in a browser:
http://x.x.x.x:9472/stillimg1.jpg

URL field in camera settings (increment the last # for the next input):

/stillimg1.jpg

IP Address field in camera settings:

x.x.x.x:9472

No user/pw is required…just the two above entries.

Sorry on relying to an old thread but this is just what I am trying to do. I want to just grab still images

I have the QSee QS408 DVR. I have it on 3 ports, one for the normal webpage interface, the other 2 for media and smartphone interface.

I tried the URL format you showed, but only a “x” image came back. I used the webpage port for this. The other two ports gave errors.

Also not sure what you mean by generic camera plugin.

Any help is appreciated.

John

Hi,

The ‘generic ip camera plugin’ is this one:

http://www.micasaverde.com/list-of-apps.php

Click the plus on mios market in UI4 and add it.

Does this…
Grab jpg URL in a browser:
http://x.x.x.x:9472/stillimg1.jpg

…give you an image snapshot?

Ok got it, but no http://x.x.x.x:9472/stillimg1.jpg doesn’t produce an image. It may be that this model of the QSee doesn’t store still images.

Look around here:

This is where I found the answer for my model. Let us know if you get it figured out.

Anyone figured out how to get still images from the Qsee qt428 yet? I see a post on the yahoo groups about ftp-ing the files to another server, which I can absolutely do, but I don’t see any options in the dver setup for ftp.

Not the same brand but I had to set up port forwarding on my router to see my JVC still images.

Yes i have tried that. I dont think still images are availablee via http. Just via email. There has been some work donewith the linux zone minder application. I tried that and not working with my dvr. The forum says that it is working with the 500 series dvr and some other brand that woot sometimes sells. I have a 400 series. I posred for help on the zone minder forum and will see where that goes.

I also tried using the linux open source motion project but that does not seem to connect to my dvr either.
