I’m hoping that someone has had some success getting this camera to connect to Vera UI5. I have scoured this forum for any clue and found several posts that address what appears to be older Q-See Cameras. All of which I have followed as best as I can with no results. I get “camera not responding” as the error. Which would indicate that Vera can see the cam but something is just not right.
I have this camera hooked up directly to my router and have been able to port forward it to my iPhone using Q-See’s app. But would rather have it a part of Vera if I can make it happen.
Following silencery’s post http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php?topic=15701.0 has been the closest I’ve come to connecting. However I believe that he is using a DVR and not hooking up cameras directly which may be why he was able to connect an I’m not.
Sorry to hear it’s not working for you. My instructions should still work (my cameras are also directly accessible on the router as well). For reference, i’m using QCN7001Bs which should be the same.
Did you try entering 9988 for the local port of the camera? That’s the correct port to read snapshots off the camera
Oh, reading down to ShawnInFL’s messages in the other post, I noticed he had to downgrade his firmware on 2 of his 10 cameras for this to work. Perhaps that’s another area to look into.
No problem. Happy to help. I’m not sure i understand your questions correctly, but I’ll try:
Where are the URL and direct streaming URL’s coming from. Are they a vera parameter or a camera parameter.
Both URLs are Q-SEE camera parameters for viewing images. For instance, if your camera’s IP address is 192.168.2.100, you could take that address, add the rest of the URL, and paste it into your browser: http://192.168.2.100:9988/onvif/media_service/snapshot to see an image.
The same question for the IP address.
The IP address is LAN address assigned to your camera (usually something like 192.168.x.x)
To Clarify my question, it’s difficult when you only know a little to ask they right question…
In regard to the URL’s the “streaming URL” is a camera parameter. Where did you find that? Perhaps it’s different for the 7005B. I would ask the same question for the “URL” value as well.
I did try using my camera address followed by 9988/onvif… unsuccessfully. The bottom of the post is what I got in IE.
I can see this camera with the iPhone app directly both using wifi and a DDNS over the Internet. And can access a live view via Q-See’s “Smart PPS”
I wondering if some of the setting in vera are different for this camera. Again, I do not have a DVR/NVR which was confusing when trying to set up the camera.
19K, can you please post the full url that produced that error message?
The streaming URL is created by vera once you add the device. It doesn’t actually do anything and viewing the camera in your vera will still work without it. The key is to have the URL field set correctly. Once that works, everything else falls into place.
The :9988/onvif/media_service/snapshot address is the default address for QCN7001B cameras to view JPGs in a browser. You’re right in that it’s possible it doesn’t work for your model, but I don’t think that’s likely since the QCN7005B looks to be fundamentally the same (although I don’t have one to test for sure). You did get at least an error message which is a good sign since that means your camera is also on the same port (9988) and you’re on the right track by initiating a connection.
At the very least, you need to ensure you can at least see an image when you paste this address in your browser: http://192.168.x.x:9988/onvif/media_service/snapshot (replace the Xs with your camera’s correct IP address). Without at least validating that first step, vera will never be able to display your camera. If visiting that URL in your browser doesn’t produce an image, you’ll have to locate one which does work for the 7005B.
And yes, again, my instructions assume you are connecting directly and not using an NVR/DVR. My original post explicitly mentions you have to bypass the NVR to get this to work (actually, connecting through NVR can be even more of a pain).
silencery, the error message was obtained using http://192.168.x.x:9988/onvif/media_service/snapshot on a PC using Internet Explorer. I’ve been digging on the Internet for other solutions with no luck. I will submit the onvif streaming issue to Q-See’s support and see what kind of answer I get.
Sorry 19K, if the onvif/media_service/snapshot URL doesn’t bring up an image, i’m afraid it won’t work. The expected result is a jpeg which is then passed to vera. If that address doesn’t pull one up, you’ll have to find the correct address. I’ve searched around, but was unable to find any different instructions for your model.
