I have two Kwikset locks that register alerts when there is activity. Both the “Type” and “Source” are “Variable” (the f(x) icon). It does not provide me with any other information. Why is this? How do I modify this behavior to be more useful? Thanks.

I agree these are very unhelpful. It seems that vera does know what they are as in the notifications tab, you can set those up for the specific functions.
Is there a way to get these to show up in the logs tab properly?
This should be under the Vera Alerts Board …
I do not have one of these locks.
I might be able to help if I could see the following information:
- Your Notification Setup Parameters for the lock device and event
- A copy of the email you receive from MCV when the event happens (To See how MCV handles it)
- A copy of the notification that Vera Alerts Receives.
- A copy of what is in the Advanced Tab for Vera Alerts for this event.
I have a few of these items, I don’t have an email notification set. I just have a notification defined and you can see it properly in the overview area of the dashboard. I can’t find the advanced tab for the vera alerts.
Backup … Forget what I said … I misunderstood you …
Vera Alerts is a plugin that sends Vera’s Notifications to an Android phone.
You are actually talking about puzzling Event Notifications.
One thing I did notice is that you have the same event for both:
FrontDoorLocked and FrontDoorUnlocked … In both cases this notification is given when the door lock is opened.
I thought they were duplicates when I first put them in, but they are not. When selecting from the dropdown for the notification type in the Notifications for the device, they are lock and unlock. The description must be duplicated in the XML file as I cannot change that.
The issue is the alert panel in MyAlerts or the Dashboard Overview and the line that gives type and source give variable or function without any interpretation. But in the Notification panel in the Dashboard Overview shows that the correct item is found and updated. So why doesn’t vera interpret the event correctly for the Alert panel?
Thanks for taking the time to help. I’ll get deeper into this eventually.

Yes, sorry about the confusion. I changed the thread title. It was when I was new(er) at Vera stuff.
