Problems Adding Devices to Vera3

Hi All,

I am new to all this so please forgive my newbishness :stuck_out_tongue:
I have recently bought my Vera3 Kit from DIY Home Automation and live in Australia.
The Items include:

Vera 3 Home Controller
USB Z-Stick Lite, Model#DSA07203-ZWAU(921.42MHz) AUS/NZ Frequency
FDN2100 Wireless One Touch Light Switch
FDN2200 Wireless 2-Way Light Switch (not installed yet)
3in1 Motion, Light, Temperature Sensor
Plugin Power Module
Door/Window Sensor

I was able to set up Vera3 without a problem but when adding devices, doesn’t work.
Here’s what I’ve done…
All the Devices were paired via the USB Z-Stick but when it came to transferring the devices on Vera3 in the UI5 Interface, via USB slot, refresh, rolad browser but no nodes/devices detected.
I’ve tried unpairing all devices to the USB Z-Stick and tried Adding the Devices through the UI5 Interface manually using Option 1 and 2 but the lights don’t flutter when trying to pair device directly to the Vera 3 Home Server. The Z-Wave light on the Vera3 just flashes on include mode but when I press the Activate button on the devices, nothing happens, still no devices detected on Vera3 UI5 interface.

I have tried soooooooo many alternatives like Controller Shift button, using the /dev/usb/tts/0 in the Options, Z-Wave Settings, Options, Port.
Tried resetting Z-Wave Network numerous times.
Resetting Z-Wave Chip
Full Power Inclusion Modes.
Restore to Factory Defaults.

Details on my MiOS UI5

Version 3.20 L:1
House/Node
Role Master SIS:NO PRI:YES
Last update N/A
Last Z-Wave network backup N/A
Port /dev/ttyS0
X By default MiOS should automatically configure devices
X Use Z-Wave version 3.20 instead of 2.78
X Use MiOS routing instead of Z-Wave (requires 4.5)
Limit neighbors to Z-Wave discovery (requries MiOS routing)
X Poll nodes

Firmware
You are running the latest version: 1.5.254 .

ZTool
I was able to see the 4 nodes on the USB Z-Stick using the ZTool Program by Homeseer but it’s very basic program that can only turn on and off and dim.
When I loaded up the USB Z-Stick on ZTool, COM Port Interface, Port : 1, the logs on the bottom window comes up:

Initializing Z-Wave Interface on COM port:1 at 115K baud.
Found 4 Z-Wave nodes
Z-Wave Interface version: 5
Z-Wave Interface node: 1
Controller firmware version: 3.7
This Z-Wave PC controller is type: ZW_LIB_CONTROLLER_STATIC

Sent Ticket to tech support already, but it’s taking a while and thought someone might have the solution.

Flemsta, lovely detail in the report. I’ve only got suggestions, no outright known fixes.

  • I doubt that the 3.20 Z-Wave version will work. Suggest that you leave it at 2.78, since that’s what the Z-Stick expects. This setting probably has no effect if you aren’t using the Vera3’s internal Z-Wave radio, but just in case…
  • I bet the port needs to be a string you haven’t tried yet. I know that /dev/usb/tts/0 works on Vera2, but Vera2 runs Linux 2.4, and those names all changed for Linux 2.6. Try /dev/ttyUSB0 (note case), also 1 instead of 0.

Let us know how you go.

OMG I cant believe i didn’t post a thread of my problem sooner! Thank you soooo much futzle! I unticked the Use Z-Wave version 3.20 instead of 2.78, saved and reloaded and added into the Port /dev/ttyUSB0. Saved and Roloaded.
Went to Devices and BANG all the Devices showed!

Much appreciated!
