Problem Getting Current Time

Hi All, and sorry I haven’t posted here in a while. When your system is stable, don’t fix it!

I am still U15, v 1.5.622

Time Warner came and put in a new cable modem (300 mb/sec - nice!) and having some trouble. My VeraLite now says the time is back in December 1999 and so of course all my automation is now not running at the right time. I had to disable all Schedules for now.

I have read up here, and it seems that VeraLite does not use standard NTP to get the time, but there was little help on what to do. If I knew more about what technique it was using to get the time, it would help troubleshoot with TW.

BTW, if I power reset the unit and log back in through cp.mios.com, the initial U15 screen shows the correct time, but after the Loading Data popup, it is then wrong again. Sounds like the initial screen is being overridden by what is in the Vera itself - make sense I guess.

I have tried restoring Vera to prior to when the router was installed - no difference.

I would appreciate it if someone could give me some guidance to troubleshooting the problem.

Thanks, Bob

Sounds like your Vera is not connecting to the www to get its time. Are you able to connect to it from remote.

Yes, I am able to connect to the Vera just fine. But the time is wrong.

Update: all fixed! It turns out that the modem that Time Warner installed Saturday when this all happened was NOT properly initialized and reset to factory defaults. When they did that, everything is OK.

So thanks for the help and listening!

Bob

Best sort of problem to have. One that goes away by itself.
