Sorry, another noob question/situation!
I moved my VeraLite to its “final” position after testing. I just pulled the power cord, not sure of any proper shutdown procedure. Anyhow, it should be able to withstand a power outage anyhow, right?
But it didn’t. Came back up and all gone. I was able to restore from a previous save, but that is annoying. What is the correct shutdown/startup procedure?
Also, back in the X-10 days people using these things in remote locations would use a timer to repower the device once a day (usually early in AM) to ensure that it was up and operating in case of a hang, etc. If I did that, per above, would I then lose everything too?
thanks, Bob
Bump. Come on guys, somebody must know about this?
Sorry, it’s never happened to me … I unplug lot’s of times … no special process.
I have about 130 devices … 2/3 are Z-Wave.
I’m the same as Richard. Never lost a thing (touch wood…)
Bob - did you always hit ‘Reload’ to save your changes before you quit the UI?
Thanks all.
I do use Save often, but I am not sure exactly what Reload does. I searched the docs but nothing came up. What is its function?
On the power up problem, I did consult with tech support and they said it should work. So I ran another test and it worked fine. So let’s chalk this on up to learning!

Guys, this happened again. I had to pull the power on the VeraLite and when I plugged it back in and logged on all my automation, triggers, events, etc. were gone. But the devices were all there. This perhaps implies that the Z-Wave chip was either loaded automatically from a backup or held it’s settings.
I did a Restore from a known good date and sure enough all came back.
But I shouldn’t have to do this. If there is a power failure, I would think the unit would come back fully once power is restored and it has a chance to boot up and communicate with the mother ship.
I have opened a tech support issue, but no answer yet.
What am I missing here? Thanks…
Edit: Tech Support sent me an email asking for some particulars and as part of that I tried the “pull the power” test again. And it worked fine! So, as above, this thing is intermittent. Oh well, I will have to wait until I can accumulate some more data.
