I have one GE lamp dimmer plug in module that has been giving me the error 1 (did not respond) every few days. When it works it works great, and it is surrounded by other modules.
The past 2 times it has quit working, I unplugged/re-plugged the module for a few seconds and it immediately works!
Is this a sign of a failing module? Any insight or similar experiences?
FYI:
In the past year I’ve had some temporary losses of some other GE grand modules, mostly wall dimmers. I think I ended up having to re-include them. My trane tstat has never given me a problem. My CA3000s are the flakiest of all. I have 3 of 5 that are blinking leds and the only cure for them seems to be to add them as new devices (these are the worst of all my brands).
Do you have more of the same GE modules and do those work ok?
I have a few modules that I have to power-cycle from time to time to fix them:
- Everspring wall plug: stops responding once in a while (once a month or two). No idea why this is.
- Duwi / Fibaro wall modules: they keep working but stop sending instant updates to Vera or other associated devices. Both vendors put this down to a bug in the Zensys firmware, resulting in buffer overruns in larger networks. A recent update of that firmware reduced the problem (power cycling only once every month instead of several times a week).
@intveltr,
Out of curiosity: are you running Z-Wave firmware 3.20, and if so, do you have MiOS routing enabled?
Yes and Yes
But that hasn’t made any difference.
Unfortunately, I have no idea. However…
Any insight or similar experiences?
Yes. In my last place (a condo) I had two GE lamp modules that would frequently flake out on me. The weird thing they did was that I could still control them with on/off signals, but they refused to dim. Even the fade on/off wasn't working. It's like the lamp module suddenly turned into an appliance/fluorescent module. Weird.
Each time it happened, I would have to unplug it for a couple minutes (20 seconds wouldn’t cut it) and then the problem would go away. There was no way whatsoever of predicting when this would happen again, it would just happen. Sometimes it was 3-7 days apart, other times they would go months. One of the two did it a total of about 7 times in a couple years, the other around 4.
I wish I could tell you that I figured out what did it, but I have no idea.
