I was just looking at the AEON Labs site and found this good alternative to The Energy Detective stuff. Anyone know more about it?
Hmm, looks promising… When does it become available?
Not sure but hopefully soon, and at a much better price than TED
They seem to have a couple of other new light adapters and appliance modules with power monitoring also.
Just an update I got the below email this morning regarding the Aeon device.
Hi William,
Sorry for the delayed response, however, the Home Energy Monitor will be available in a couple months (end of February hopefully). You can start asking your local/online retailer if they will be having this is stock come March or if they intend to have these on pre-sale before then at speacial pricing. We are working with a number of gateway folks to get these products integrated seamlessly into the software.
Best regards,

Aeon Labs
Aeon Labs was showing these at the CES Show. The one that was being shown had two clamps (one for each phase of your electrical service), but had a similar body. I’m not sure where the body of this product would go, because it wouldn’t fit behind the deadfront of my power panel and it doesn’t look weatherproof enough to mount it below the panel. I do have a closet backed up to the panel, so I could find a way to mount it inside.
Ideally, I like Bulogics’ wireless gateway linked to the meter itself (of course you have to be in an area with Smart Meters, I’m not) as this seems like a much more accurate, elegant solution:
Anyone know what happened to this product?
