The syslog is purely used for error logging. It can be handy if you want that to happen for a longer time as the log file on the Vera holds less than half an hour typically.
To store externally there are several options. You can use Datamine 2.0, Datayours for example. I also has a daily script on a synology NAS reading the KWH values from the Vera and put them in a MariaDB database. This latter uses http requests to read the values so you can pull like that from nearly any server.
Hello Rene , thank you for the plugin I have an additional question: When I use an app on my smart Phone like Vera Lite or HomeBuddy I see all the data fields except the one for gas usage? Any idea what I can do about it?
Affright not. Apps only show standard device types and Gas flow is not one of those for Vera. Vera would need to add it to their App, but doubt they will for an app just for the Dutch users. Imperihome did add it upon request. So maybe Homebuddy will do as well, but I am not seeing any activity in its forum groups.
Hi Rene,
Thanks for this very usefull plug in which installed fine during first attempt. Iâm just puzzled by the gas meter reading. Understand that update from gas meter to elec meter is once/hr.
Readings - Gasmeter (m3)- Gas flow (l/h):
09:03 - 5.68 - 0.00
09:04 - 5.78 - 9.99
10:05 - 5.78 - 0.00
9.99 l/h is 0.00999 m3 used during the logged hour. However, it appears that it is logged as .1 m3 on the Gasmeter total reading m3. Where am I wrong in my thoughts?
Gasmeter itron G4 RF1
Elecmeter Kaifa E0026
Since the 9.99l/h figure looked suspicious to me, I have further analysed the retrieval of FLOW variabale.
Though the device indicates âFlow 318â,the figure I obtain using value = luup.variable_get(âurn:rboer-com:serviceId:SmartMeterGAS1â, âFlowâ, id) is 9.99
In some cases I even have an update of value = luup.variable_get(âurn:rboer-com:serviceId:SmartMeterGAS1â, âGasMeter_fracâ, id) figure whilst no flow has been recorded. In case there is no flow, Iâm getting zero value for luup.variable_get(âurn:rboer-com:serviceId:SmartMeterGAS1â, âFlowâ, id), so I must use the correct luup.variable.
Any thoughts where I should look to remedy the current deficiency?
I will have a look in a couple of days on what I see. Mean time if you can turn on debug level logging in the plugin settings and send me a few examples of the gas readings it may help.
I have been monitoring the gas readings and I am not finding anything off.
Two things to remember. The flow reading will show the average liters used for the past(!) hour. So between 10 and 11 it will show the liters used between 9 and 10. Not anything one can do about that with an hourly updated value.
Also when looking at Variables in UI7 when is shown may not be the latest values. Make sure you refresh your browser before drawing any conclusions on the variables you see.
Can you tell me the DSMR version number you see on the Smart Meter Reader. The logic for Version 2 and 3 if different from the later version 4 (that i have, but I think you have too).
Hi Rene,
My sincere apologies. Should have reported the current state earlier. Can report in the meantime that all is functioning well since early august with one minute data logging into a sql database without any failure. Never realized my fridge was consuming that much!
Canât recall what I have changed but Iâm sure it was all self inflicted and nothing to do with the plug in. The meter is a KFM5KAIFA and the DSMR version number reads 42.
Again, failure my part to report does not do justice to this perfect and highly usefull plugin.
Rgds
Dick
Not a problem. I did find one bug that gave a zero flow reading when your vera would restart, that is fixed in the latest version.
And yes, monitoring sure helps finding those energy hogs. I reduced my idle usage (sluipverbruik) by 50% and that is a 24x7x365 impact. Well worth the time spend
Hi, not new to VeraEdge, but I am in my new house. So now I have a smart meter. I already have a P1 smart meter cable, which is working in Domoticz. Just ran that under Windows. But of course I want to use it in my VeraEdge.
But I would like to know if you have stats, just like in Domoticz, nice graphs with an overview of day, week etc.
Is this plugin intergrated in the Energy (Ergy energy reporting) option in Vera? I tried this several times, installed the plugin, but only got errors.
Of course I want to know who much energy I used yesterday, etc etc.
Anyway, would be fine if someone could give some examplers, screenshots maybe?

Hi,
This plug-in just reads the meter. For any reporting functions you have to install either DataMine2 or DataYours. You can find plenty of information on those in this forum.
I would not try to use Ergy. It just seems to cause trouble.

Thanks. I thought datamine was outdated and did function anymore. Going to look at them anyway.
Cool. Then I have something to do this evening Thanks.
But I still need this plugin right?
Yes. The plugin gets the data to your Vera. DataMine2 can graph nearly every value in nearly any device or plugin.
Hallo.
Alvast bedankt.
Gr. Frans

Hi guys,
Received cable and installed the Luup files, created device. So did what the user manuals said.
I do see the device âSmart Meterâ in the devices overview, (total 5 âdevicesâ) however they all show â0â (zero). See screenprint.
What did i do wrong, or is the meter not sending data over P1?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
