I am using the Virtual Motion Sensor to inform vera of motion from certain cameras. I am also using the iPhone Detector Plugin to figure out if I am home or not. Finally, I have PLEG and VeraAlerts. My goal is to only send notifications of motion when I am not home. I was going to do this through PLEG, i.e. I create the inputs
The condition would be something like: (MotionCam1 or MotionCam2) and !IAmHome
For the actions I was expecting some “Notifications” options which I then can overwrite with VeraAlerts. However, all I see under “Actions” is “LUA” and “Immediate”. How can I send messages through VeraAlerts under the above stated conditions?
I should have known that, especially because I did setup notifications in PLEG before. I tried to figure out why I failed doing it this time. I think the reason is in the green menu. I started setting up the inputs and conditions. Once you click on any of those green menu points the menu at the bottom (Control, Advanced, Logs, etc) disappears, hence I ended up looking for notifications in the green menu. I simply would have had to click on “Back” to get back to the menu at the bottom.
Why did I not click on “Back”? Looking at my other real and virtual devices there are mostly just one (Back) or two (Control & Back) menu entries. Under Control you see the menu at the bottom and Back brings you back to the list of devices. Some devices have more menu entries but they also have a “Control” menu entry which brings you back to the main screen of the device. PLEG does not have such a “Control” menu entry and instead one has to click on “Back”. I am not necessarily saying that this is a deficiency but I think that is what caused my confusion.
Anyways, just some user input. Thanks for the response.
This is the screwy layout provided by UI7.
I have no idea why the additional entries are off screen most of the time, I can’t put them on the top because it will not accommodate all the menu entries.
A poor design.
