Please help...Do Evolve switches LTM-5, LSM-15, LRM-AS need grounds??

Hello All,

I beginning my journey into home automation, and have exhausted this forum to help make purchase decisions. (thank you all for great contributions) I haven’t needed to post until now…

For switches, I purchased all three of the listed evolve models above.

We are renovating our mid century home, and our electrical wiring is mostly without ground wires. Do these switches require grounds? I still have time to run some of them if need be, although would rather not.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

These switches require a line and neutral connection in order to function. They should also have a ground for safety, but they will function without a ground. I suspect that using them without a ground will not only be less safe, but they will likely not want to warranty them if something goes wrong.

If you can run a ground, do it

Thanks Z Waver… I will see about running grounds. Will probably post a sample of what the wiring looks like once I try to connect them. I tried to connect once 3way diimmer and have not had any success in getting it to function.

Do you have neutrals at most/all of your switch locations?
