Is the PlantLink plugin at MiOS Marketplace compatible with both UI5 and UI7?

Anyone tried it? It seems a good option, but no documenter or screenshot available.
Thanks
Matteo
hey guys - i need to create some documentation. I only created it for UI7, but it seems there is demand for UI5. I will work on getting it to be functional on there too!
Literally all you have to do is enter your plantlink username and password. Reload the Engine and you are set.
Expect a writeup soon!
OK - Version 1.4 is in the appstore and should work with UI5. I had to make some adjustments and am waiting on 1.6 to get approved. It should be there shortly.
Please give me feedback on the plugin!
Do you have any more screenshot?
Thanks
Matteo
I should receive plantlink tomorrow and I will give you feedback. Thanks
Sounds good!
This is the main instruction set for the plugin: http://www.airedalez.net/?p=279
I received Planlink, works correctly.
installed the plug in in Vera. Installed the plug in and works on first shot! Great!
But after a first reload, I received the attached error.
Thank you!!
Matteo
I may need some logs from the system. I’ll PM you.
Just got mine today,
I have had this error intermittently. It seems like a communication problem with the cloud API more than anything. It goes away eventually after the initial setup it seems.
Airedale: Would it be possible to pull the BatteryLevel too?
Works so far so good otherwise.
Plugin works fine for me with multiple sensors on UI5.
Would it be possible to have the plugin report the battery level (if this is included in the PL API)?
I’m interested in this PlantLink sensor. I have a Vera 3 on UI5-672.
I read the plugin should work on UI5.
Questions:
- Does the moisture level show in % (i don’t like when it’s only a judgement like too dry or too wet).
- How are your experiences with the PlantLink sensor: does it work consistently and do the measurements seem reliable (logic…) ?
Let me look into the battery portion of the API - I think it does report back. I am guessing you’d like actions if the percentage falls below a certain threshold too, right?
In terms of the questions by Mai:
- Percentage is tracked and shown.
- For the most part I have been happy with it. The distance could definitely be improved. I wish they could link together like z-wave, but they use zigbee. Along with that, since they are on battery, it wouldn’t help. Selling extenders would be the path I’d take, but that isn’t available either. Once and awhile devices say they can’t be seen, but then show back up - once again distance is a factor here. I am much more knowledgable about when to water my plants, and the sensors aren’t horribly expensive, so I’ll probably keep buying them.
I honestly had a good laugh when I initially saw this plugin post and discovered what the product was. It seemed to be very geeky. But then I realized how useful it is when I tried to automate the sprinkler system. See who’s laughing now… Since my yard is fairly small, it works really well for me. The signal strength seems to be very low though as I am getting barely 30% from a plant 6 feet line of sight from the plant and most of my other sensors report signal strength in the teens.
To airedale: It seems like to get the battery reported the “only” thing to do is add a “batterylevel” variable to the device and get it updated to the API. It would be great to have this feature! Thanks for the app!
I got in touch with the Plantlink guys about range issues. They’ve shipped me a “gen 2” sensor which should have much better range, but it hasn’t arrived yet (their first shipment languished in Customs for 2 weeks)
I am using the Gen 2 and it works better, but I’d like to see it even stronger.
Zigbee does mesh networking, but (presumably) battery operated devices don’t act as repeaters. Maybe Plantlink could sell net powered repeaters, or allow generic Zigbee equipment to be included in their network…
I asked some questions along those lines and they said it wasn’t in any of their near term plans. It would make sense though. If the one hub can support 64 devices, you’d think that it’d be near impossible to get those devices all in range, unless it was a nursery or something like that.
Cool!!! , didn’t know this existes .
Now I just have to wait untill I visit the US.

They ship worldwide, but depending on where you’re from you may have to pay taxes. (I got hit with ?40 in import duties on a hub and 3 sensors).
