I have several Aeon Labs Smart Switches. Recently I took one out of service and deleted from the Vera2 interface. It appears to be coming back as a generic “appliance_module” even after I have deleted it. What is causing this? and is it possible to remove this device from the interface some other way?
You must use the Remove Device function. Select “Add/Remove Devices” , select “Add Z-Wave devices, such as light switches, door locks, controllers, sensors, etc” then go to the bottom and choose “Any type of Z-Wave device which you can bring close to Vera” Set it to exclude.
I was having a similar problem but with a Leviton 4 button scene controller. I accidentally factory reset the controller after I had included it in the Z-Wave network. So MiOS could never communicate with the nodes (one for the scene controller, one for the switch) and, oddly, I could not delete the devices or the nodes, they would always reappear.
The solution, which I found in another thread on “ghost devices”, was to cut the breaker to the scene controller so that it was no longer getting any power and then to remove the node from MiOS. Going that route the device stayed removed and I was able to bring back the power and re-include the device in the network.
