phantom devices appearing - FIXED!

I have a Veralite running 1.7.690 and recently had 9 motion sensors and 1 smoke sensor show up under the devices menu. I noticed that each of these devices have a parent ID that is an AEON smart energy switch (which I do have and is working). I’ve tried deleting each of the devices, and even the parent device, and non of the items will remove themselves. I’ve tried using the delete button on the interface and also the following syntax:
http://[IP]:3480/data_request?id=device&action=delete&device=37

For added background, I did recently add a couple of Monoprice motion sensor prior to these showing up, but they seem to be working properly and not related.

Any suggestions on how to remove these or what may have caused this?

It’s a common issue without much known about it. I have around 4 MIMOlites that at random times will create several virtual motion sensors. They don’t all do it at once and I’m unable to delete the devices.

I call VERA support in the morning and they delete them for me. Probley in a few months I bet I’ll have to call them back. Thing is they don;t show up in my apps so it’s more of an annoyance when working in the UI then anything else.

Found the solution. It seems to be tied to the Aeon switches because it happened again in a different room with an Aeon switch as a parent.

Basically just reconfigure the Aeon switch and the phantom devices will disappear. On the Aeon switch, go to advanced, commands and select “configure”.

thanks jlind this has plegged me for awhile now. I hate bothering someone for such a simple nuisance. I did the reconfigure and 2 phantom smoke detectors are gone. I also did it on a Whole House energy monitor that had a temp sensor as a child and that is now gone too. So try this for the AEON labs HEM too

Perfect! Worked for my Fibaro-Sensors, too!

edit: Nope, celebrating too fast. Got an error message ‘Device not responding’ for a second and then my ghostly device re-appeared.

I have the AEON HEM, along with Fibaro Water sensors… Same problem…

i am not going to add and remove them, it seems to function even with these extra devices…

Once you got your system running smooth and no errors, i simply create a back up and restore the entire system from this back up… then all the noise is gone without spending the time to add, and remove, etc…
