Yeah, very true, I’ve had quite a few near misses with my Garage door with one of these things! I actually ended up taking the whole rubber section away, so that I have to press the button in the circuit board!
If you have the RFXCOM rfxrtx433 plugin, it opens up a whole extra world of devices on the 433mhz
Visonic for example do proper panic buttons and key fobs that might work, or there are X10 switches etc that could act as a trigger.
On a related note, I’m (very badly) trying to build a Proximity Sensor plugin (see that section in this forum) that would make use of the transmission range of either Zwave of the Rrxcom antenea to tell you if someone has gone out of range. -
A panic button was one of the devices I was looking to use as I have an old relative who can just walk off, so it was an idea to track them too.
