Pairing a TRANE thermostat

I had a TRANE thermostat fall off the wall and break >:( As a result I need to setup and pair a new TRANE to my Vera. I cant recall how to so that. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have taken the dongle and tried to pair the device through the TRANE menus, the dongle even gives a fast blink, but no luck when plugging the dongle back into the VERA router.

What am I missing?

It’s been a while since I paired my thermostat, but from what I remember, it was pretty straight-forward. Just make the menu selections in the Trane that lead to pairing, then put the dongle in pairing mode and you should be good to go.

But I think you should be getting a delayed blink on your dongle if the thermostat is pairing correctly. If you’re getting a fast blink, then it’s not pairing, which means you should probably unpair the thermostat first. It may have come paired to a Schlage Link, so try unpairing first, then pairing, and look for the staggered blink on the dongle to confirm it paired.

After trying several times to pair the thermostat with my Vera, I finally decided it was time to update the firmware and IU to V3. Well, it worked just great and I was able to pair it up, but I was very displeased with the V3 UI. The new UI is so clunky and I had nothing but frustration as I could not get it to work with Firefox on my mac (I updated the firmware while running through parallel.)

After a few hours of frustration, I decided the to downgrade the UI to V2. Thanks when it hit the fan. The downgrade appeared to work, but now the database cant load and the system will not fully load once I log in. It’s bricked, so now I need to restore to factory and start over. Ugh.

To make matters worse, the unbrick procedures have my head spinning.

Why can the Vera router been seen on my local network while going to findvera.com, but not allow me to go to the setting so I can flash the firmware?

Sorry about your luck… If you ever get it running again, here is a link that describes how to pair with schlage link. Basically its the same instructions with Vera, just uses a different dongle.
