Outdoor push button

I would like to install 2 zwave outdoor push buttons to act as a doorbell. One would be installed on my front door, the other at the back. Once pushed, it would ring, or say that there is someone at the front or back door though my Sonos system. In the future, I would like to have cameras project to my TV and/or my Tablets (that I use for remote control).

I have seen the Aeon Labs doorbell, however I do not need the doorbell speaker, only the button, and it is quite pricey for what I want to do.

Is there any zwave push button that I could use in an outdoor environment that is water/snow proof and uses a battery to power it up? Or, is there any other way that I can achieve this with a different device.

If no one come up with a pre built item for this, you could always get a Z-Wave Door window contact and a regular doorbell button.
If you already have a doorbell buttons installed, you can cut the wires to the doorbell and install them into the Z-Wave contact in the attic or somewhere water proof. Program and done.

If you do not have doorbells buttons installed, you can install some single gang boxes at the button locations. Then install the Z-Wave contact in the single gang box with the new doorbell button mounted to the single gang cover. You can even get a nice aluminum outdoor cover or paint a plastic outdoor one to match your decor. The contact will be serviceable for battery changes and such.
Here is a contact that will do what you need.

Make sure you watch the video on how the external reed switch works with them. That will be your door bell.

Then you can program all of the cool stuff you want to happen when your doorbell rings.

I remember stumbling on a Zwave device that you connects to your door bell chime and it would trigger whenever someone ring the door bell. I tried to search for it again but couldn’t. If I find it again I’ll let you know

Maybe this article: http://zwaveworld.com/2015/all-z-wave-articles/how-to/get-started-the-easy-way/z-wave-doorbell-a-hardware-hack/

This describes doing what you want, although not necessarily cheaply.

How about this one → http://philio-tech.com/products/PSR04.pdf

I’ve got one of these. Out of the box it’s completely useless with Vera - needs someone to develop a plugin for it.

Did you try it on a Vera-Edge or Vera-Plus ?
This uses the latest Z-Wave chip.

It’s also been certified by Pepper One, so it should work with Vera.

Support might be your best option as certification is meant to provide compatibility between devices.

Vera 3.

It pairs and I tried setting it up as a switch and dimmer, but it wouldn’t do anything useful.

I got the SDK from Philio, so can see what z-wave commands/messages it uses. I assume you’d need to create a custom device of some sort to interpret them.
