Option to exchange Vera1 to Vera2

Hi MCV,

I just read your announcement in the official section. Is this offer also valid for European customers?
Thanks in advance

Umtauscher

It didn’t say it wasn’t available to European customers. When you go to buy it you have the option of choosing your shipping options and you have to pay the shipping so I wouldn’t think it should matter where you are at. I would add the note saying it’s an EU version after the serial number you type in just as an added measure.

Ok, how about Australian customers? Z-Wave in Australia uses a different frequency to both North America and the EU. (Are there Vera2 units that run on Australian frequencies? And how does the exclusive Australian distributor (smarthome.com.au) fit into this?)

I’m in the same boat as futzie. I bought my Vera 1 only 3 months ago from smarthome.com.au as I was told that the frequency in Vera 2 wasn’t compatible with Australia.

MCV, is this still the case? Can the internal transmitter be flashed to use the Aus frequency?

Hmm…
Just another case of outstanding customer support.
I would at least have expected a response by MCV…

What’s the best way to bring this to their attention? I have a hardware compatability request I made through the support system a couple of weeks ago that is still sitting idle, so that isn’t it.

Anyone have a direct email to someone who might know the answers?

could be worth a try, it isn’t necessarily direct, but MCV has suggested it be used for Vera1 to Vera2 questions.

A customer in Sweden is also eager to know how to replace Vera 1 for Vera 2…

Umtauscher, did you email or call and nobody responded? Our call center is supposed to answer every email that comes in. Or did you only post to this forum? Given the volume of posts in the forum we don’t monitor every thread.

Europe and Australia

Yes, the offer is for all customers. We have Vera 2’s with Euro frequency.

For Australia, we don’t have a Vera 2 with the AU ZWave frequency built-in. But, you can still get the Vera 2 replacement and then use your existing AU dongle and change a config setting so Vera uses the dongle instead of the built-in ZWave.

If you have any questions, email sales [at] micasaverde [dot] com.

So, they didn’t really say it, but after all these months and month of promises, I have to spend another $89 to get in line and see if these guys can deliver? I’m actually pretty annoyed.

I wonder what ever happened to ‘it just works’? Now it’ll be "it just works if you keep buying the new hardware?.

I’ll have some cheese now…

Hi,

Vera 2 comes with US and EU Z-Wave frequency. If a future customer contacts our sales or support department, they will be informed about the option. I don’t remember receiving a phone call or email asking is Vera 2 works with Australian Z-Wave frequency and saying “Yes”.

Was it someone from MCV team who gave you the green to buy a Vera 2 saying that it will work with Australian products?

Thanks!
