I just installed a Leviton z-wave outlet (one of the cheaper ones for the “wink” system). and when I turn off the outlet, it shows as “open ground” in my tester. The non-controlled outlet still shows as correct. Is this something I should be worried about? I am 100% fully confident that the outlet is wired correctly. It is tapped into the outlet below.
I tested on of my enerwave outlets and when it is turned off, the lights on the tester all go off.
Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Does it test properly when it is turned on? Since receptacle are usually always on these testers might not work when there is no power present.

Yes, when on it shows correctly, and when on and off, the non-controlled receptacle on the unit always shows correctly. I bought 2 of them (both for TVs), so when I install the second one I will see if it does the same thing. IF it does, I will consider it ok.
However, on my enerwave z-wave outlet, the tester shows no lights when the power is off. You are right though, it might be 100% how Leviton is switching the power.
