does anyone know some recources, forums blogs on how i can hack a incompatible Airconditioner to sort of support a standard Thermostat (so i can “automate” it) ??
i’m sure some peoples have done this already, but google was very much empty on results.
it has a IR remote (which i not have) and a optional branded thermostat (which i also not have)
the controller board is very old fashioned …
what i want is just to set temperature and on/off
OR (if possible) just have the radio thermostat / filtre exclusive control the Compressor unit.
nothing complicated on the main board it has now as well
just fan control (4 wire to the fan), 2 temperature sensors, control for the condensate water pump and control wire for the compressor
all the connectors are 230 volts …
but driven via relay
its Carrier Cassette type Split Unit. [ 386RE018G2 / 40KMT020X ]

I think we need more information. What’s an “incompatible Airconditioner”?
Every Air Conditioner I know has some sort of switch to turn it on, or a Thermostat to turn it on. What do you have?
i called Carrier already, they where not exactly competent about standard wire codes …
and told me it only works with the original controller (which i don’t have)
currently the Mainboard installed (see picture in my previous post) is for a Infrared Remote control … do there is no connection at all for a wired controller.
i did not get any clear information from carrier if change of the mainboard to support a wired controller will enable me to connect a radio thermostat or a nest … or anything else use the usual HVAC standard wires
so iam pretty much back on square one …
i just dont want to buy the Mainboard to find out that it wont work (the set does cost about 80 USD)
i have done all the work to get it working anyway with a bunch of 24 Volt relays …
the only thing that is left is the power ON/off as the A/C has a stupid push button to do this job …
(i can’t just cut the power as the airconditioner is also doing stuff while on standby … like pumping condesate water out)
anyone has some references to this … google was pretty much hopeless altough alot of peoples seems to try replace ATX Power switches with normal switches … which is basically the same what i want to accomplish but none has ensured that ON is actually ON
