Numerous unknown devices

Something happened (and I am not sure what) but for some reason my Vera has a list of over 40 unknown devices listed and waiting to be configured. What do I do to completely reset the entire z-wave network and start over? How do I get Vera to start from scratch? Please help.

I have the same phenomenon. ???

In the devices area are 78 generic devices, 3 dimmable switches and one controller. None of them has neighbors or other information.

I assigned them all to a waste-room and then delete them one by one by one…

Where do these phantom devices came from?

…and they are back! At least 60 of them are again there. :-\

MCV please help!!

Yes! That is exactly it. You are a better person than I though. I do not want to manually assign and then delete that many devices. I want to see a real fix for this. Hopefully someone from MCV will see this post and help us through.

Hello? MCV? Do you work on that problem?
Some of Vera’s jobs are failing and Z-Wave is extremly slow. E.g. I have one shutter in the kitchen that doesn’t open any more. My family is getting a bit unhappy about that…

The Z-Wave dongle stores the list of devices internally. Vera syncs the device list to it. So you must have paired a bunch of Z-Wave devices to the dongle, right? Which show up as ‘unassigned’ until you put them in rooms. If you haven’t paired devices to the dongle, and they’re just showing up, my guess is that the dongle needs to be reset because perhaps at the factory when they did their QA testing they didn’t reset the dongle afterwards?? It’s never happened before, just an idea… You can go to Devices, Z-Wave options, Reset Z-Wave Network. But be careful, once you do this, you must be sure to reset any Z-Wave devices in your home that you’ve already paired by holding down the button on the dongle to go into reset mode.

ok I’ll do that. But, this is extremely inconvenient! Hope this will never happen again!

I will do so as well when I get home. However, what you are proposing happened did not. I have had the Vera for about two months ago, I set up 6 devices initially (2 power receptacles, one scene controller, one dimming switch and 2 water/ice sensors. The system had been running fine for about 5 weeks (maybe less) just fine. I logged in one day to try something and noticed all the additional devices. I have also tried the “reset ZWave network” option, and am still seeing all the devices. Should I reset the Vera back to factory defaults as well?

Well I’m through. Everything works fine now. But I have had to assign every device to the existing scenes again. It took me two hours all in all. >:(
