Notifications

Notifications just stopped working yesterday. I know that events are happening, but it is not telling me.

Any ideas??

I’m having the same issue. I just got a Vera2 (updated to ver 1.1.1245), a 3-in-1 sensor and Kwikset deadbolt last week, and so I’ve been experimenting with scenes and events.

A few days ago I was getting both email and SMS notifications, but no longer. I assumed it was something I had accidentally changed in my testing, but I’ve verified the events have the checkbox set next to my user ID, and that I have appropriate email address and phone number defined and enabled under the “My Contact Info” tab on cp.mios.com

Thanks in advance if I’ve missed something obvious in my settings.

I dont seem to be getting any notifications either

Same problem, it does not work anymore. ???
Hope this will be solved if the problem comes from Micasaverde

Same here, hasn’t been working since yesterday :frowning:

is anyone getting notifications currently?

@pgrover516
Seems notifications are down (again?!?)
Ive been using the Lua smtp socket and prowl for some time now and they seems stable.

so yours is an alternative route then, I’m wondering if anyone who uses the standard built in messaging is currently recieving?

@pgrover516

I understand that, and that was my remark, it seems “standard built in” notifications as you call them are not working for a lot of people (again…)

Just wanted to let you knwo there are other options that seem (more?) reliable these days.

Best,

Henk

Thanks Henk, good to know though amoung the BT’s I represent joe sixpack having no programming or advanced knowlege though generally computer savvy, with an extra effort I could probably dope out some of the alternative solutions but I prefer to try to influence MCV to fulfill the promise of home automation for the masses ( an exercise in self abuse I know, lol) That being said I love my Vera and have fun tweaking it but as veterans know she aint mission critical ready yet (case in point repeated interuptions in notifications) By the way you’ve been a great support to others in these forums, kudos to ya brother!

@pgrover516

Thx for the kind words… as for no programming experience… shake hands… neither have i…
Advanced knowledge… well yes, on IP systems and routing. but Vera still golds many mysteries for me.

Even for users like you and me, the following threads help to set up reliable notifications.
Ive done it… and it works… (yes MiOS should fullfill their promise as well, but getting Vera reliable had more priority for me!

Best,

I seem to be getting notifications fine. I have seen no problem with either even or odd serial numbers. The last I knew, there were two notification servers serving the evens and odds.

it’s a strange business these notifications, I have had full function at times when groups of people were complaining that they weren’t working, now I have 2 units (vera1 and vera2) both not getting any notifications at the same time (and others) while some are getting them, what gives? MCV, anyone listening? ???

Notifications over email work here for the odd serial number Vera. SMS messages seem to be delayed…

thanks for the replies, no email no sms here

No notifications here since Friday night. Even serial number.

just tested again and voila! now it works, ah the mysteries

Less than 2 minutes from posting an voila! received a notification.

Good News: seem to be getting notifications for all events for which I’ve requested.

Bad news: SMS notifications are (often) too long and are truncated, sometimes losing important information (date/time).

Bad news (IMO): notification sender appears on my (Verizon) phone as “noreply@notification.mios.com” where is 1, 2, or 3. I’m currently receiving notifications for 2 event types. They’re scattered randomly among the three senders, in a sort of loose “round robin” fashion.

Request: Make the apparent sender of all notifications the same, so they will appear in a single thread when I receive them.

Request: Every SMS notification includes (in my case) 42 characters that are identical to Subject used in the e-mail notifications. Convenient for the notification programmer, but not for notification recipients. Specifically, each of my SMS notifications starts “(MiOS nnnnn Notification for )”. If it is deemed “essential” to include this information, put it at the END of the SMS. If my username gets truncated, my feelings won’t be hurt. Promise!

@DonnaLBK,

Welcome!

Yep, there is room for improvement there. Stuff recently came up in this thread.
