notifications limits to same email address

I have the zir000 successfully paired and I know its working properly from looking at the logs.

However, I’m not getting email or sms notifications. But everytime I add a new email, it works. IS there a limit to the number of emails it can send? Is it per/day?

Thanks. So I’m still having trouble with the email notifications then. If I setup a new email address, I get about 5 notifications and then the notifications no longer get sent. But if I change the email address, I get a few more.

Vera is logging the event but just not sending the emails on subsequent events. Has anybody had this problem? And I can’t even pay for it if I wanted since I am in the free trial.

Email notifications are free and unlimited so something else is going on.

Yes, they are free, but not unlimited unless you have a different service bought from us. We have a 20 / day limit in order too keep them free.

I think we’re going to need some clarification here… see the JPEG from the wiki. As I read this, it says email is free and SMS is limited to 20 per day.

I agree, that we need a very clear message somewhere, preferably on the Wiki.

Free service - 20 messages per day. Are those only SMS or Email are also limited?
If you buy $29 plan, do you get 50 extra messages or 50 total messages?
What about free trial? Do you get unlimited messages for the period of the trial?
So on, so forth.

Yes, the limit for SMS is 20/day.

There is a limit for the emails as well. The reason for the limit is that customers would sometimes set up something wrong, get flooded with notification emails constantly, and then the customer’s ISP would be block them from receiving from us, assuming we’re spammers, and the customer wouldn’t get any notifications. 20 a day is the limit where we found we don’t get banned for spamming a customer. Just think how the message for an Event looks like? It can easily be interpreted as spam.

I hope that this is more clear to all of you now.

Two suggestions:

First, once limit reached send an email that notification are stopped for today. It’s important!
Second, you need to implement temporary manual override for email limit - just like turning on the logs that cancel itself in 24h.
Well for email it might be 4h or something like that, but there must be a way to test things even if total exceeded normal limit.

With the new UI4, this setting will be a user choice. You will be able to change the limit to whatever you like, but the moment we will make the notification part bulletproof (which is done as we speak) and the ISPs/email providers will block the email notifications, that something we won’t be able to fix.
