I just got a new Yale lock and I decided to add it to the network before installing it (lessons learned with Schlage). I logged into my vera, went to add device and i’m getting “Not Primary Controller”. I’ve added no controllers, or devices in a couple months now so i’m not sure what Vera thinks is the new controller. Any ideas how to make Vera the primary controller? And why it thinks its not?
So no one knows how to make Vera the controller? Including the famously unresponsive MCV support?
Can anyone recommend a product that is at least supported?
Right, I do not believe there is an advertised way to manipulate the role (primary / secondary), but it should be possible.
MCV Support is probably your best bet.
MCV handled it…thanx guys. I never found out what caused it or what they did to resolve it but at least I’m back in business.
Glad to hear. Let us know how the Yale lock works out for you. They do look very nice.

There is a good chance I just got a bad one but it wasn’t a great experience. I can’t recommend it but if you don’t mind petting your door lock to enter your code then it might be perfect for you ![]()
