We working on a home-grown irrigation program to drive our Rain8s. Our PUD doesn’t remand sewer charges for sub-metering, but after a couple events, we’re thinking we’d like to be able to get real-time flow gallonage for our drip and sprinklers. Something that we can feedback into the control program, which will have a pretty good idea what the gallonage should be at any time.
The right place to install a sub-meter would be just downstream from our backflow preventer. I don’t have wiring to that spot from the garage now, but can pull a 5 or 7 strand if that’s needed. The easiest way for me, conceptually, would be to have a real time HTTP URL I can ping from our local network to get current flow rate.
But I am open to suggestions. Given the fairly high geek factor in these fora, I suspect someone here has invented this mousetrap, at least once.
