Northq / EM6600

Hi Guys,

I’m using the Eminent EM6600 (which is a Northq energy monitor) for energy monitoring.
It worked fine with my Vera 3 Lite.
After a week I discovered dat the pulse factor was wrong en I changed it on the Device Properties Tab, after that I received the error “failed at: setting user configuration” after the next sync.

I changed the value back to it’s original value but i’m still getting the same error. It seems that the em6600 is not accepting any configuration changes, except the ones I inital set with the tool from Eminent.

When i check the logs on the Vera the only thing I find is:

01 12/06/12 11:00:09.206 ZWJob_SendData::JobFailed job#25 :cfg get #4 p0 (0x10de250) N:4 P:70 S:5 Priority 70 <0x2b8d7680>

Does anyone have experience with changing values on the NorthQ/EM6600?

Hope that someone can help me.

Thanks

Hi guys,

Solved the problem. i had inserted the wrong value for the Pulse factor.
Pulse factor is "How many Pulses10 per kWh".
My meter is mechanical with a value of 600
10=6000.

While finetuning I tried insert a value of 6003, at that moment I got the error while setting the config.
I corrected it by setting the Pulse factor to 6010 and changing the Pulse Count (kWh * Pulse Factor = Pulse Count). I could have left the factor at 6000, but I leave it alone for the moment ;D

Now the values in my Vera are in Sync with my meter.

I’ve been using this with a mechanical (disc) meter for a few months but I keep having discrepancies between the NorthQ and Vera.

The main issue is that it is not consistent. Can be anything between 10 and 30% difference (NorthQ always reads more).

Any suggestions how to get this better?

Already reset a few times and had it re -calibrate (5x press).

After 2 days of running the values are out of sync again.

I also have the problem that the NorthQ reads more than the meter itself.

I have made a support tickit with Eminent hoping they can help me.

Did you ever get feedback on this request?

Nope not yet.
I have mailed them again today.

Any news on this item?
I have the EM6600 included in the Vera-3 network.
But no readings at all.
Setup is done like http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,12569.msg95260.html#msg95260
Ideas?

Cu Wim

I have this as well, sort of. My meter seems to indicate 75 revolutions per KWh. So I tried 750 initially, but it was way off. So then I doubled it to 1500 (assuming that there must be a 2nd dark spot on the disc somewhere) and it was closer, but now it was reading less energy. I then tested 1140 and now 1275 (it actually does accept a non-zero last digit), but it’s still reading a bit high. I’ll try to tune it to more accurate values.

What I think is happening is that the dark spot on the disc is actually quite wide and it may take some time to pass the sensor especially when consumption is low. I guess that tuning the “IR listen period” and “IR pulse width” might help here, but documentation is so scarce that I haven’t touched those so far.

Has anyone found ANY documentation on this gadget at all? Link to a manual? All I have got is a collection of forum links.
