Noob question...audio options for Vera Edge?

SmartThings defector here, expecting my Vera Edge next week. I’ve been scanning the forum to learn about audio options for the Vera Edge. I want Vera to be able to announce (TTS), and play MP3 files (dogs barking on doorbell press) etc. I’m not a coder and would prefer the simplest option possible. From what I can tell, I essentially have 3 options:

  1. Sonos via plugin (I don’t own one)
  2. DLNA speakers via plugin
  3. VLC Media Player->PC speakers (old thread from 2013 - http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,13619.0.html

Have I missed anything? Anyone care to chime in on their experiences (good or bad) with any of the above, or add to the list.

Squeezebox plugin ?

Sonos works well for me.

Are you interested in TTS also?

Oh yes, Squeezebox, thanks. I don’t have one of those. And yes, I am looking for TTS.

Another option is http://www.voxcommando.com which gives you the option of using Sonos or PC speakers. With voxcommando you also get other ways to extend your Vera HA-system including speech recognition.

Thanks mht - I’m not familiar with VoxComando, I’ll have a look at it.

I can’t comment on the other options, but I use Sonos and that works well for me
