If you are having problems with your Vera2 with the no-zwave dongle or zwave failed to start, try renaming any long named devices to something shorter.
I was trying to name an appliance module “Family Room Christmas Tree” and it was causing the above errors in two Vera2 units. I renamed the device to FR Tree and hit save and zwave is back and working fine now.
