Night vision

Hello all,
I have a cctv camera installed in my home. Everything is going on well except the night vision. The video is very clear during daytime but it is very dark and sometimes blurred during night. I was searching for solutions for this problem and found few online. Here is one of the solution which I found yesterday Tips For Best Night Vision On CCTV Cameras | Calgary Alarm Inc..
I don’t have much experience with cctv cameras, so I would like to know whether these tips are reliable or not. It says that camera should have something to reflect off. I’m not clear about it. Can someone please help me find a solution? Any suggestion regarding this are greatly welcomed. Thanks in advance.

  1. CCTV cameras are not terribly high quality. Is your CCTV camera resolution greater than 400 lines? If not, the quality won’t be good.
  2. Is the night vision rated at 0 lux? This means your camera can see with absolutely no light. Most 0 lux cctv cameras probably have somewhere around 20-30 LED’s on the front face or more.
  3. Something to reflect off of is like a surface where light might bounce off as opposed to brush, bushes, grass, plush couches, beds. A brick wall will help illuminate, aluminum siding will help illuminate, white painted walls, white refrigerator.
  4. Perhaps you can buy some indoor IR bulbs maybe from Home Depot. That way you don’t add light that is visible to people at night.
  5. Is your camera lens dirty? Try cleaning it. It will be worse at night.

I have seen 2 types of night vision goggles the single goggle version and the double version night goggles what are the major differences?

are you getting writers cramps yet? Great info for those of us who are night vision newbies.
