Newbie has a few questions and could use some help...

I am looking into getting into a bit of home automation and think the Mi Casa Verde Lite may be for me. So I was looking at getting the Nexia bridge and using that. But if I was to get this I wouldn’t need the bridge correct? What is the advantage of this over the Nexia bridge?

And then ANY Z-wave compatible devices will connect to and be controlled through this Mi Casa Verde Lite correct?

I am looking at doing the following:
-Getting the KwikSet Z-wave deadbolt
-Getting a Z-wave thermostat
-Getting a few wall switches and/or dimmers to control some lighting in the house

These all seem pretty self explanatory and basic. Am I correct?

But, 2 other things I would like to consider would be:

  1. Controlling my security system. I have a fairly basic monitored system that covers all doors and windows on the first floor and is controlled by a First Alert keypad in the garage. Any ideas on how to swap that out? Maybe call my alarm monitoring company?
  2. Control all of the components in my home theater set up in the basement. I just set up a Logitech Harmony Link to control the TV, Blu-Ray, cbale box, and Yamaha receiver. But that is not Z-wave. So how do I go about getting control of that set up? I can return the Harmony Link if there is something else I can get to integrate the home theater control into this.

Any and all help you could give would be much appreciated!

After looking on these Forums a bit more I did one other post about the Logitech Harmony Link. I’m still not sure that it is comaptible with Z-wave and the Mi casa Verde Lite. But, again, I am willing to retunr it if there is a good alternative I can use with this system. It seems as though maybe the SQ Blaster could be that alternative? Maybe somebody could help me out with a little more info on that device (cost, how it works, etc…)

Thanks Again!

As far as everything zwave you listed all will work fine and the forums can help you out there. For AV I have found the sqblaster is a nicely integrated solution. I do not know of other pre-integrated IR solutions like that although I know many users are doing different things.
