New setup not working

I just got my Vera2, connected it, went to the http://micasaverde.com/vera2 page to set it up and it detected the vera2.

It says that i need to upgrade the firmware, I click yes and it just links to an invalid website that gives a “404 this page cannot be displayed” message.

So I tried just clicking the “No, Just leave Vera as-is” button.
this time it advanced to the vera setup wizard page with a “Loading data in progress, Please wait message”

I left it alone fore probably 30 minutes and still nothing came up. I tried it with IE, FF, Chrome, and Safari on both my Mac and Windows7 PC. Same thing, it never gets past the loading data in progress.

Can you try going directly to the vera unit via ip address. Also do a power cycle on the unit.

Yes, accessing via IP is where I get the loading data in progress and nothing else can be done.

I power cycled and also tried resetting it and get the same thing.

OK, and I have now tried connecting the vera directly to my PC. I access the vera’s IP and still get the wizard page that says Loading Data in Progress and never continues.

Try doing a reset:

“you can press the black button on the back of Vera marked ‘restore’ twice in rapid succession, then watch the power light on the front of Vera. The power light will go out when Vera is doing a reset. In order to avoid accidentally resetting Vera and losing your data, you have to double press the black button quickly. So if the power light doesn’t go out, try again until it does.”

Try logging in with a direct connect to the eth1 port.
Use: 192.168.81.1

JOD.

tried this, it rebooted and still just stops at the setup wizard.
I have no fear of loosing any data since I have still not been able to set it up in the first place. Its a brand new unit out of the box.

Do you see a button. “Click to go to Dashboard” ?
If so, click it.

*Edit. Can you provide a screen shot?

JOD.

Try what JOD suggested. I forgot that this may help. If I remember correctly, I had to do this on my fathers unit a few weeks ago. The dashboard button should be at the top right corner?

Yes i could see that button but it was not allowing me to click it or anything else on the screen while the loading progress bar was displayed.

Good news though, I was able to get it going after resetting it about 30 times. I went throught the setup wizard and upgraded the firmware and connected a light dimmer.

Now to install my DeadBolt on the front door.

 this is going to be fun. Anyone know of any place that has cheap thermostats?

Radio Shack.

JOD.

As JOD stated RadioShack has the trane stats on sale for 59.99 I believe! Thus is a steal for a great thermostat. They be hard to find as RadioShack is doing away with zwave. So search the stores in your area. You may want to pick up some other goodies as well.

Am I missing something here? how do I access the vera via the web? (away from home)

Create an account at cp.mios.com. You best bet is to do this while at home so the webpage can find your Vera easily. Once done, you can log in via the webpage to gain access to the unit.

I’m not finding any on the radioshack website

Looks like they removed most of the products from their page. You might want to check the stores. That would probably be your best bet.

went to the store, and didn’t see any. I grabbed a pamphlet and asked the lady to check for one in the system and they couldn’t find it in their system. I did a google search from my ipad and found an archived radioshack page with the catalog#. She entered it in and it said all stores were sold out except the one i was at should have 1 in stock. We went into the back and emerged with one. ;D

I tried replacing it already, but my old thermostat was battery powered and only had 4 wires. This one requires 5 wires, the one wire I’m missing is the wire that powers the thermostat. I guess I’ll have to have an electrician install it.

Any idea why radio shack is clearing all the schlage products out of their stores?

You should not need an electrician. Its just a low voltage wire and a pretty easy DIY project (in most cases). If you dont feel comfortable then an A/C guy is your best bet.

What exactly would I have to do?
