Is this new model Trane tstat compatible with Vera Lite? The older model Trane TZEMT400BB3 is out stock in Amazon.
That model # is the newer model Trane, though I have seen various model numbers for this new model. The #1 difference between it and the older model is the newer model does not have the status indicator lights, which I wanted, so I purchased the older model. The status lights let you see at a glance whether the system is on for heat or cool, if a filter needs to be changed and two other status indicators that escape me right now not completely necessary for functionality, but I nice feature I couldn’t understand why they removed in the newer model Trane. The older model Trane also had a light/softer blue screen, while the newer model appears to have a deeper blue.
If you’re looking for an older model Trane with the status lights check eBay as there’s always a few people selling. Just make sure to confirm with the seller it’s the older model with the status lights because some people use the generic picture of the old version when if fact they’re selling the newer.
Thanks for the advice! I got the older version instead!
I didn’t know Trane had a new one but I agree about the status lights. I also have the old one and one glance tells me status or if the filter needs changing. Without those I’d have to go to the unit and check the display to obtain the same info.
I don’t believe Trane makes these but only re-badges them. I forgot who makes them.
Installing one of these is a breeze. The manual extensively goes into how to determine what wires do what on your old tstat and even includes labels so you can label them while you remove them.
