Lovers of all things slightly ghetto, but likely actually functional: monoprice is about to enter the z-wave market. Plus typical monoprice bulk pricing. User manuals already online so I think this is for reals.
But when it comes to deadbolts, i’ll stick with Schlage, the only Z-wave deadbolt (that I’m aware of) that is ANSI Grade 1 rated. Kwiksets and Yale are Grade 2.
My monoprice items have just arrived. Just tested the sensors yet. Worked fine! Temperature (it’s a variable, I’m using Vera Lite) and motion worked! Yes! A similar unit is 54 on Amazon.
BUT, it’s battery only. No USB 5v input for these. Also just a 3M double stick tape to mount it.
Haven’t tested the door sensors yet, but differently from the ones I’ve bought on Amazon, the Monoprice ones are WHITE only. It’s okay for me, because for my one wood door I already had a sensor in brown, but so you know.
The sensor currently shows 72F, my Nest shows 70F on the opposite wall (less natural light, but both are not under direct sun light).
Didn’t figure out how to remove the battery after sticking it to the wall. Probably I’ll need another double stick tape. Not too happy about this.
Also the motion sensor is not that much consistent to register no movement, after being triggered. Non scientific testing shows anywhere from 2, to 5 to 10 minutes for it to turn off the triggered state…
The motion sensor looks like a knock-off of the Express Controls (HSM100) which also has a Light Sensor which I own a couple of and even they have issues with mounting and battery replacement. Instead of a direct knock-off it would be nice to see minor improvements in the “new” version, but hey its half the price.
I converted mine to run on wall wart power supplies and they perform better as a result, since you can avoid it sleeping to save battery.
That’s a decent price on the door sensors, but the First Alert smokies are cheaper and have CO2 detection, but I do love the NO LOGO that Monoprice offers.
I’m glad to see this from Monoprice since I love most of what they send me and I really love the $5 overnight shipping if you live close enough.
I don’t see the temperature sensor showing up in Vera Lite. I added new Z-Wave device in Vera and it showed the motion sensor but no temp sensor. Not sure if there are some extra steps needed to be done.
By the way, the include documentation didn’t even mention temp sensor.
You’ll notice that I already commented on the lack of reference to a temperature sensor in the manual. This likely indicates that there is no temperature sensor and that the Monoprice description is inaccurate. I would suggest that you contact Monoprice for verification about the existence of temperature sensing capability.

Thanks![/quote]
If you look under the advance tab is shows the current temperature under the variable “current temperature”
If you want an easier way to view the temperature you need to download the the “idoorcontact plugin” app which will allow you to create a device which displays the temperature.
Here is more info on the monoprice devices in another thread:
