New Hardware??

Anyone know if there is actually going to be new hardware released soon? I am running a veralite right now and struggling with memory I think, but not going to splash out on a vera 3 if there is new hardware due.

The answer to this question remains the same as it did when asked the other times. There has been no information in regards to new hardware. Only MCV can tell us.

A new Vera lite? On the site it is presented below the current Vera 3 model.
It has Zigbee and a faster processor.

So Sercomm make vera and you are saying this model would be a new version? I did notice on Vera website a Veralite G, which I had not noticed before, but spec is no different to the veralite. Could have been there a while and I just didnt notice it.

There is another topic on Vera G. It is a an OEM model of Vera Lite.

I most definitely hope that is NOT the next vera. I would love it if they could actually put a usable amount of ram. I would pay $50-100 more per unit to have a good amount of ram. I believe there are cheap android tablets that cost the same or less and have better specs than the vera. I’m not saying it’s “that” easy, but it can’t be overly hard either.

Yes I have to agree. Surely if they want ui7 to compete with other offerings this is going to need a significant memory bump. Guess it’s tricky if they want to keep existing users though, now that everyone is tied to systems with no more than 128mb memory.

Full Vera support for adding memory via USB flash would help. I have a 64 MB swap file via USB now, as is documented in the Wiki. Vera could explicitly support swap - right now we are just using the standard swap process of OpenWRT…

Datamine seems to have some issues. Homewavepush works but has issues accessing settings.

Ignore the last post. I have assumed that vera believes you can get by with what they offer. I have been limiting plugins to save memory.

From the new U17 help files… hmmm…

Net & Wi-Fi
The Net & Wi-fi sub-menu includes features to help you troubleshoot your Internet access and local network should any problem arise. There’s also an option here to activate 3G (cell phone) backup of your notifications in the event the Internet fails (this requires a Vera Controller with built-in 3G capability, or a cellular accessory dongle for your Vera Controller.)

I think Vera would want to have UI7 released, and a hardware design based on the new 500 series zwave, before releasing new hardware. There’s only one hub at this time released with the 500 series chip.

I assume, if you’re have memory issues, that you do have USB memory installed.

If Vera doesn’t track down the memory leaks I see, more RAM just increases time between reboots. If they release new hardware without software fixes there’s just going to be a lot of complaining about the new stuff.

There will probably be a lot of complaining regardless of what they do.

Just referencing CES 2013 here, where VeraPro and VeraPlus made an appearance.

I can’t wait to hear what they won’t be releasing at CES 2015! I heard that it’s codenamed Unicorn.

You’ve obviously been dumpster diving at MCV headquarters…

;D

I heard that it's codenamed Unicorn.
Yep ... we saw photo's last year when they were at CES ;D

You guys are incorrigible. ;D

I’ve noticed a lot of price drops on VeraLite and packages the last few weeks on both Amazon and TigerDirect.
Even the getvera.com site has now jumped into the slashing. Offering Vera 3 for $160 and Veralite for $140.

I’m wondering if this means new models are about to be released and the older models are bring pushed out…

People been saying that for a year. I stopped hoping along time ago.
