I think many of us have been searching for a doorbell/camera solution that would integrate with Vera, I don’t think anyone has found a decent solution as yet. But maybe this new front door light with built in camera could be a good option is it can be integrated with Vera.
i would check the reviews on amazon.
i read that you can’t have the images go to your own server, only up to their cloud servers.
I pre-ordered Nucli, it has been delayed several months, but is supposed to finally ship soon. Nucli has a built-in camera.
I’ve had a Kuna on my front porch since September. It’s probably our favorite addition to the networked home.
True, it doesn’t have any sort of integration with anything else. They’ve promised that such access is on the roadmap, but without any kind of timeline. I ask them via twitter once every couple of months how it’s going, just to remind them that we haven’t forgotten. I would very much like to record the feed to my zoneminder server.
So far their system has been reliable and reasonably quick. I get their push notifications to my phone within seconds. I have a Z-wave motion sensor above my front door that sends me a text via the default vera setup - the Kuna alerts generally beat it to my phone by a substantial amount of time.
I also reached out and asked about Z-Wave integration and although they claim it’s on the radar there is no time frame yet.
I like this solution as my doorbell wiring is shot and I use a wireless doorbell. For Ring etc I’d have to redo the doorbell wiring to get a power source as I doubt the batteries will last that long. This solution will just replace my existing light fixture. Easy peasy.
Keeping an eye on it and may get it if the price drops. Even without Vera integration.
I have the Toucan camera (http://www.toucan.solutions/) that uses the Kuna mobile app and doesn’t require you to replace your whole entry light. It uses an ingenious idea of using a lamp screw in module that allows you to power the Toucan camera via USB.
There’s a couple issues with it - only cloud recording (which you can download clips afterwards); and the typical angle of recording given the position of entry lights and having the camera close to that. But I do really like the Toucan camera. I don’t see a big need to integrate my security cameras with my Vera system right now. But I could be wrong.
how much is this toucan camera. i searched amazon and no results.
