New firmware from Foscam causes issues with Foscam Camera in Vera

Hi There Micasaverde

I’d like to report an issue with the newest version of the Foscam IP camera firmware that is now incompatible with the Vera 3.

I have Vera 3 running the latest firmware (on a WinXP PC) and controlling a number of z-wave devices, including Foscam 8905W IP video camera. I successfully installed the camera and was able to view it fine in the Vera UI and remotely view via the Vera Mobile android app.

Yesterday, I upgraded the firmware on the Foscam 8905W camera from 11.35.2.44 to 11.35.2.54. The Vera is no longer able to login to the Foscam camera. The Vera UI and the Vera Mobile app both display the error message “use valid username and password”. I have not changed any of these user/password details since it was working fine and I can log into the camera and view the video stream on the Foscam web interface.

I raised an issue on the Foscam forum and they provided the following technical response… “Please contact the third party software supplier because the low-level protocol, that they are using to interface to the camera, has been modified and is no longer using “Basic Authorization” and instead is using “Digest Authorization”. Which this third party software supplier, will need to deal with”

I guess this means a new version of the Vera 3 firmware, but in the meantime, can you suggest a short term fix or workaround for me.

Regards
Mark
