Hello,
I’m new to Vera and want to first voice my gratitude to this amazing forum – easily consumed most of my weekend. I suspect it will consume many more weekends ahead.
I recently moved into a home with an old Napco (MA1000E) alarm system. The panel, great hidden “ion-style” wired window/door sensors, and wired siren system remain in place (MPI-11 siren driver).
I plan to reuse as much of the installed security system along with VERA integration.
I have decided on:
DSC PC1832 panel
Switching all wired EOL resistors to 5.6K (from 2.2k for the Napco system)
DSC TR5164 for wireless rx/tx
EVL-3 for alerts and monitoring
Few wireless motion detectors to supplement the wired door/window sensors
I’d rather not install physical keypads for a number of reasons — no desire to wire to location neer entry doors and I’d rather not spend the money for a 2-way keypad.
I plan to use key fob’s and a myriad of tablets/smartphones to control the security system and VERA.
Is it possible to set up a DSC system without a keypad? I planned on buying a PC-LINK + USB. Is it possible to set up/program this system with the DLS software and PC-Link alone?
This will be my initial VERA project, with HA and scene plans to follow.
Thank you for your input.
