So, my thoughts are a bit mixed but I don’t want to stop.
get a new DVR that works with coax cameras and works with Vera? ???
or get new IP cameras? ;D
If I get 3 new IP cameras, what should I buy if I don’t want to spend much money? And what else would I need to keep a backup of what has been recorded?
3 analogue cameras connected to a DVR to record movements.
the dvr has Ethernet and is connected to my lan, so I can watch the images with a pc/phone - it also has ddns, so I can watch the video stream when I’m out.
the dvr is also connected to my tv’s using a coax line.
What can I expect by using a video encoder? Would I still need the dvr? Or can the encoder record to a usb pendrive?
Does it support ddns? Or with Vera receiving the signal I wouldn’t need the dvr because Vera would stream and keep jpgs?
There are some others that can be found on ebay if you search “video server” but you would have to research them to see if you could get them to work with vera. I dont know if they have a last snapshot url.
Thanks John, I’m doing that right now! Found one for 89£ and just asked to the seller if it provides a url (for video and picture) for each camera. Let’s see…
[quote=“jwiz, post:2, topic:171736”]You could use a video encoder to convert the analog cameras to IP. I am using Axis 241 to connect my analog fixed and ptz cameras to vera.

John,
I am not able to send a message on the boards. I also have a 241-qa and I cannot get it to work correctly. The image flickers when I click “view” or it doesn’t show up at all. Just shows the filmstrip icon with the wrench and screwdriver crossed.
Any help?
