New Amazon Fire Tablet

Anyone else think the new $50 amazon fire tablets might be a good fit for wall mounted controls?

You can find them here

With the prices falling on these devices, I will only get 10" or above. 7" do not display enough information for me.

What app would you run? Is it available in the Amazon store? (if you don’t have a Fire, be aware that lots of apps in the Android store are not available in the Amazon store).

I used an old Kindle and cracked it to run standard android OS. I then installed Imperihome app. Works perfectly.

What size tablet are you using?

The tablet is small. It measures 4.75 wide 7.75 inches long. Screen is smaller obviously. It was the first or second year they came out. It was lying around so I did not care if the root of the system bricked it.

If you go online there are tons of “go-bye” instructions for your model. You can get the model number somewhere in the settings.

I use test hudl 2. Got four of those running in the house, cheap, fast, and lovely HD screen. For the money they are one of the best I’ve seen. All I did was use nova launcher drop in some customer stuff with tasker and run imperihome where needed. Well worth a look.
