Nevo Remotes

Hello all, long time Nevo remote user, but new to the world of Vera. Does anyone know how and if to integrate one of the Z-Wave Nevo remotes in the Vera environment? what i would like to do is to be able to control my av rack with the remote and use the Z-Wave features of Nevo to enhance the Vera system. This is probably easier than I am making, but any help would be great.

I have a Nevo S70 remote that I added to vera2 as a z wave device. I went in to the settings on the Nevo and “join as secondary” and then linked my virtual nevo switches to the actual z wave switches. I don’t know if you have the nc50 rack base also but I added that device into vera2 as well. When I added the nc50 though, it created like 6 or so controllers to the system, they all have a different node ID, I don’t know what they all do, I just created a room called “controllers” and added all the unused controller devices in their to get them out of the way. I’d like to know how you’re coming with the nevo and vera because I got a lot of hours into nevo figuring out all the stuff it can do.

I have successfully added my Nevo S70 as a secondary controller to my network. My intention was to use the Nevo primarily as a Scene Controller (which is how it gets added to Vera anyway). I have a couple of questions…

  1. Is there a way to configure the Nevo as a stand-alone Scene Controller, or do I have to create buttons on the Nevo and link each of those buttons to another, physical Scene Controller that I already have in my network? I can’t figure out how to put a bunch of buttons on Nevo’s screen and have those buttons execute scenes.

  2. I think I’ve figured this out by myself already, but unless I’m missing something, it doesn’t appear that Nevo can recognize a virtual binary switch for purposes of linking. Is that true? I have a virtual switch setup in Vera but it’s not showing in the Nevo ecosystem as a physical z-wave node to which I can link the Nevo virtual switch.

Any information appreciated. Thanks.

I don’t have this device, but in general, yes, I expect only the physical Z-Wave network information to get replicated; the virtual switch lives inside Vera.

Thanks @oTi@ - perhaps a better way to ask my second question…

Does anyone know how I would trigger a scene from a Nevo S70 remote? Would I have to link to another physical scene controller in my network, or can the S70 itself be used as a scene controller?

Thanks again.

Answered my own question after some additional reserarch with UEI.

You cannot associate a Nevo virtual device to a physical scene controller in your z-wave network. However, you can create a virtual scene controller in Nevo and simply build a macro that executes a series of SET commands to all of the devices you want to control. This essentially means you’re re-building a scene in your Nevo remote. The nice thing is that Nevo comes with some pre-built graphics emulating Leviton switches and scene controllers, so the look and feel are really consistent (assuming you’re using Leviton products in your network).
