Netgear VueZone (VZSM2200)

Anyone successfully connect the Netgear VueZone solution to a Vera Lite? Specifically the VZSM2200 with motion detector? Looking for a small outside and inside camera that runs on battery (no outlets near were I want to locate the camera) for front door and possible nannycam.

Thanks!

I have not used the Netgear camera, however, with respect to you not having a power outlet, if the netgear (or other) is POE (Power Over Ethernet) capable, I use an Axis M1054 with a TrendNet POE injector to power my Axis camera via Ethernet Cable. Works well.

I just looked on Amazon and the Netgear VZSM2200 doesn’t appear to support POE. Amazon has the camera for $199.99. If you haven’t purchased, or can return, you might look around for a POE camera. Should be able to find one in that price range. There are a number of nice POE cameras out there and the POE injector or a POE switch are available from $20 and up. Switches are more expensive. The Trendnet POE injector I use is a single port device (about $35.00).

Here is an example product from Vivotek IP8133.

Thanks for the reply MWP. I am looking for something that is battery powered and wireless for the location I want to locate this camera. I have looked at POE options but that would required I run an ethernet cable to the location, trying to avoid that hence I was looking at this product.

I have the VueZone and have used it since it came out a few years ago. It does work well as long as you work with in its limits. You can’t expect the battery to last if you constantly watch the camera or have it record (motion detection). It would be nice if it did integrate with micasaverde because then a quick snapshot could be grabbed from the camera upon an event happening. The only way right now to watch, get a pic from the camera is with their web site or iphone app that I can tell.

I have two of these cameras and they are fairly crippled without paying a monthly fee. Also video quality is pretty bad.
