I’m new to Verde and am now ready to create some schedules - eg turn porch light on at 8pm and off at 1 AM. I can’t figure it out. Do I need to create two schedules?

You do need to create two schedules, one to turn them on and the other to turn them off.

You could use PLEG, create a schedule in Inputs - Schedules, there you can tick the on times and off times, and you then can have conditions and or acitions based on that (and you have the base for doing more complex things). If you search for PLEG on this forum, you’ll find a lot of information (and help if needed)
