Need notifications of PIN no.s entered into Yale door lock

Hi all,

Very much the beginner here. Have a Yale door lock up and running, the system will notify me when the door is locked and unlocked but I need to know what PIN no. was entered. I run a photo studio and each user will have their own PIN, this way I can keep track of who is doing what.

First is this on UI5 or UI7? I can do this pretty easily by choosing a notification for “A PIN code is entered” and the setting the index number of the PIN code I want to be notified for, but I have a Schlage lock so I’m not sure if it’s the same.

Stock Notifications are not very customizable and getting flooded with emails and text is not very pretty either. As Richard pointed out the Vera Alerts Plugin allows you alot more flexibility. That plugin can still work threw email or If your on andriod there is also a nice app that goes along with it. If your on IOS I use Prowl. But again Email will also work with the Vera Alerts Plugin.

I have two Yale locks and I use Vera Alerts for the notifications through Pushover. Works fantastic. Allows me to know exactly who entered their Pin Code.

Thanks for the info so far. Getting “door locked” notifications but not “PIN entered”.

Before installing Vera Alerts I was getting “Door opened” from Vera but no PIN no’s.

Have attached screen grabs of the setup…

First Chirs tell us where you live so we can test out those pin codes. LOL ;D

If you already getting some notifications but not all… those shots you sent us probley don’t help. I would check to see if vera alerts is even receiving the “notification” to send out. I thought I saw a post that after a recent update pin codes stopped on certain locks.

Whats strange is that after installing Vera Alerts is that the ‘Door Opened’ emails stopped coming.

OK, I was unaware of that, then it very well could be a setup issue.

Have you tried doing a manual or test message from inside vera alerts to see if the mail server setting are working?

added basic door open closed notifications and getting them, just not the PIN notification.

cdalbert - did you ever get this working? i have the same problem - i can get door lock/open messages, but not Pin code numbers - I want to use them as a notification. What’s odd is that it worked one time - the first time I tried it, but not after that.

I have email alerts working based on the PIN entered. Currently running UI7, 1.7.649 on a Vera Lite

Go to Devices>Door Lock>Notifications>

-In the pull-down select >A Pin Code is Entered>

  • Select the Index Code that corresponds to the PIN code you want monitored. The index number is in the Pin code section of the lock web page. I don’t remember if I setup the PIN codes in the lock itself or through Vera, but either way, Vera should be able to read the codes in the lock or set them into the lock from Vera.
    -Then put a checkmark in the box for the user(s) that you want notified. This user needs to be configured beforehand in the User Info section.

I get emails and text messages to my phone when the selected PIN code is entered.
